22 of February 2008 – This section will become a regular feature on this site, information about what is happening on other online chess site should interest some chess players and or webmasters.

Last night chess.com presented their tournament module to their membership and as expected (the coffee group) a Round Robin system was announced. The coffee group is a group of webmasters (or sysops – from the old bbs days) that get together once a week to discuss what is happening in regards to online chess.

The Round Robin system was expected because this code is freely available to anyone on the web and does not take much thought to program. A good programmer could put together a reasonable Round Robin system in a matter of hours. We wish the best for chess.com, the only site really promoting online chess at the moment, even if it is for profit.

22 of February 2008 – It would appear chesshere.com will enter the online chess market with a new look on or about March 1st, I use approximate dates because there are always delays etc.

This website recently lost 2 months of data, some of the players are naturally upset regarding this issue. Looking at this for the first time you might say that things like this happen and we should move on and look forward however, as chess players we are always looking at historical games (games from the past) to learn from our mistakes, we must look at this website and review it's past. This is not the first time this website has lost data, in fact, this website has faced this challenge several times and failed.

I will not voice my personal opinions on this website, most people know how I feel about the present owner of this site, I will try to only present objective information whenever possible.
